Reasons to Reason
in the midst of war, atmosphere of hate.
hearts yearning for revenge, victims of fate.
angry minds, indignant hearts.
saddened nation, scattered parts.
there seems to be no reason to love.
but what about our past joys.
when we all played, girls and boys.
what about the children, the infants.
their tenderness caressing our hearts.
what about our country Nigeria.
our heroes past, our nation in scornful hysteria.
what about nature and its peace.
the flower's beauty, us- the masterpiece.
the dripping dew, the high mountains.
the oceans, the flying fountains.
what about the possibility of true happiness.
the possibility of dancing and playing of clarinets.
the possibility of a happy and complete house.
of children, their father and his spouse.
what about our promises, our pledges.
to Nigeria to keep peace within our edges.
what about God, life eternal.
Chineke, Oluwa, Allah
Lets unite and take this stance
And give peace and love a chance.
